The most significant effort to be made in this spiritual journey is on - Focus and Attention. The ability to focus our mind and intellect as per our WILL any time we WILL to, for as much time we WILL to, is a superpower. The primordial and most imperative skill to master to be a conscious creator of our destiny.
Our ability to concentrate forms the foundation of our life. A haphazard mind—a mind that wanders aimlessly, going helter-skelter—creates a life that follows the same chaotic pattern. Those who remain focused and think only what they will to think navigate life with greater ease, achieving what they set out to accomplish and shaping their destiny according to their will. They move with a clear direction, without wasting time on the distractions that arise along the way.
We are creative beings and when we focus our attention on any state, we first create that in the energetic realm in the form of our feelings. This state of being is what attracts vibrationally aligned situations and people into our lives and allows that to manifest in the physical reality. The present physical reality is always a reflection of our past state of being. Let me try to put it in an equation, Physical Reality = State of Being. + Time. Because there is a curtain of time between the two and hence we aren’t able to connect the physical reality to the inner states of being. We believe things are just happening to us and quite often we become a victim of our situation rather can masters creating our lives.
We ought to be very conscious of our attention. Where attention goes, energy flows, where energy flows, things grow. We should consciously choose where we wish to put our attention to - which thought would you like to feed ? What feeling would you like to feel? Are my thoughts and consequently, my words and actions aligned to how I wish to feel?
There is a parable I read somewhere, where a grandfather shares with his grandchild the tale of two wolves. It goes like this -
"My son," he said, "inside each of us, there is a battle between two wolves."
"Two wolves?" the boy asked, eyes wide with curiosity.
"Yes," the elder nodded. "One wolf is full of darkness—anger, envy, greed, arrogance, self-pity, and deceit. The other wolf is full of light—love, kindness, humility, patience, gratitude, and truth. These two wolves are always fighting within us."
The boy thought for a moment and then asked, "Grandfather, which wolf wins?"
The elder smiled and placed his hand on the boy’s shoulder.
"The one you feed," he said.
Meditation and remembrance of who we are while performing our karma will build this superpower bit by bit. Since we are habituated to remain unconscious, it needs effort and intention to bring our attention back to this present moment and focus. Like all things, with practice this would be perfected.
May we all master our minds and be able to focus our attention where we WILL to.
May we all feed the light that is within us.
Wish you a loving day…
Love this Varun. It is so true. Having mastery in this way and learning to focus with deeper intent is an incredible skill. The mind is almost impossible to tame. Even the greatest Sadhus struggle with this because it truly is untameable, but it is the mastery and learning to unsettle, understanding how our mind works and how to scale back the over thinking and be at peace and acceptance with the hard stuff and focus on that which serves us. This is the ultimate goal.
